Launching the Diabetes UK Tracker iPhone app

Today is the launch of our new iPhone for Diabetes UK, the Diabetes UK Tracker. It’s designed to be quick and simple to use, taking the chore out of logging insulin levels each day to help people effectively manage their diabetes.

Our user experience team designed it in partnership with clinical specialists and the real experts – people with diabetes. We shared our early designs with Diabetes UK’s Facebook community, resulting in feedback from more than 200 people, so it’s a fantastic example of user-led design.

The app has a series of unique features that allow people to:

Track how they’re feeling, and see how this affects their levels

  • Email graphs and notes directly to healthcare professionals, themselves and others
  • Share their graphs and notes on Facebook and Twitter
  • Take photos of their meals, or anything that reminds them of their day
  • Save specific records as ‘talking points’ to help them recognise patterns and use as reminders in healthcare appointments

The app also allows people to:

  • Log their blood glucose, insulin, carbs, calories, weight and ketones
  • Use graphs to visualise their results across days and weeks
  • Store additional latest recordings including HbA1c, blood pressure and blood fat levels
  • Save details of their doctor and keep a log of appointment times

We’re really proud of the app and hope it will become a trusted and valued companion to people with diabetes. You can download it from the app store now.
